In the early Sixties: analytical and numerical methods for the nonlinear analysis of tension structures and their application to the design of Palasport in Genova (72 m. diameter, 1963); further results later on inelastic analysis of cable systems. (1, 8, 9, 10, 24, 25, 39, 50, 64, 68, 119).

In the late Sixties and early Seventies: extremum theorems characterizing the solutions of incremental elastic-plastic analysis problems (in rates) and in holonomic plasticity (“deformation theory”) with piecewise-linearized yield criteria and hardening laws. (29, 30, 31, 34, 45, 69, 71, 151).

In the Seventies: mathematical programming (inequality-constrained optimization) solution procedures for shakedown analysis and elastic-plastic analysis and structural optimization problems based on finite element modelling. (29, 32, 36, 44, 47, 48, 52, 58, 60, 65).

Transmediterranean Pipeline: structural problems concerning the deep-water laying operations (up to 630 m. depth) across the Sicily Channel (between Tunisia and Italy), 1978-82. Consultant to the design companies SNAMProgetti and SAIPEM (78, 83, 91, 99, 100).

Subsea tunnels crossing the Messina Straits: analysis of the structural damages due to impact loads such as explosions, 1990-94. Consultant, through Department contracts, to the Consortium of offshore companies engaged in the design (176, 189).

Simulations of damages due to explosions in offshore pipelines and on some equipments onboard of submarines; 1994-95. Consultant to the companies SNAMProgetti and Riva-Calzoni, respectively.
