The about 100 teachers and researchers working at the Structural Engineering Department of the Politecnico di Milano develop their research activity individually or interacting with several Italian and International research centers.
Some of the most relevant activities of the Department concern applications of high performance concrete materials; diagnostics and consolidation of historical buildings in masonry; analysis of damage and instabilities of soils and rock mass; monitoring and analysis of the dynamic behavior of civil and industrial structures; earthquake hazard in the territory and interaction structure-environment; computational mechanics of materials and structures; bioengineering of prosthesis, organs, tissues and cells; analysis and design of micro-electro-mechanics systems (MEMS).
Head of the Department is Professor Marco di Prisco.
